Utilities are programs used to interact with the Operating System. For example, there is the Drive Manager. This is a utility since it interacts with your storage drives – both loacal and networked. All utilities will perform a role, and be expected to work properly. When there is a bug found in a utility, it must be resolved as soon as possible by the team that manages utilities. Utilities are tools designed to just work in the background and not be intrusive.
